Another highlight of my summer!

In June I had the incredible privilege to take 5 of our Lifeline girls on a senior retreat to Silver Lake in Michigan. My friend Debbie Mann went with me to help and we had a great time! It was such a treat to get to hang out and spend time with each of these girls before they head off to college. Left to right: Me, Amanda, Erin, Cat, Casey, Debbie and Lauren.
This is Amanda, Casey, Erin and Lanette on the 4 hour beach walk. We were in Ludington and we took off to walk to Big Sable Lighthouse. It was supposed to be about an hour walk each way, but after walking for about 3 hours we decided we were lost and we turned around to head back. By this time everyone was beat from walking in the sand and I was PRAYING for God to do something (I wasn't feeling like a very good leader at all). We came upon a Christian camp and watched a frog and turtle race (how random was that?) and I decided to ask the director there at the camp if there was someone that could give us a ride back. They were happy to help us out and much to the girls delight these 2 cute boys (staff from the camp) drove us back to the beach where we started. Thank you Jesus for answering that prayer and making the boys cute and nice so that the girls weren't mad at me for getting them lost!
This is us cooking our "hobo dinners" at the shack. Some of the girls had never heard of hobo dinners (where you put your meat and veggies in a foil packet and grill it all together), but they loved them! We had a great time together with lots of really interesting conversation around the campfire. These girls are so awesome and I am so blessed to have them in my life!

These are my Boys . . . Trent, Cody, CJ & Teddy

This is my hubby and best friend, Trent. He is an awesome guy who runs his own auto repair shop, Michiana Auto Pros and he works really, really hard. We have date night every Wednesday when Cody goes to Oasis (the middle school youth program at GCC). Every morning we exercise and then have coffee time out on the deck by the river. Some of the things we love to do together: Travel (Playa del Carmen, Mexico is our favorite spot), Off-roading in the jeep or Bronco, Going out for nice dinners, Boating, Going up to the "shack" at Silver Lake, and Hanging out with friends. We've been married for 16 years - (I know, we look way to young to be married that long - hee hee :0)
This is my son Cody - the most incredible and intelligent 12 year old on the planet! He loves to skateboard - him and his friends just built a quarter pipe and keep it in the Cul-de-sac - the neighbors aren't too sure about that, but they haven't made us move it yet! He also likes to dirtbike, offroad with his Dad, eat, draw, paint and play guitar. He is going to grow up to be something amazing and we're so blessed that God gave him to us!
This is our dog CJ and our new kitten, Teddy. CJ is a lab and retriever mix and is the BEST dog ever. He is so gentle and sweet - I can't imagine not having him in our family. His nick name is "fatty", but he's not really fat, he's just fluffy. Teddy is about 3 months old now and is extremely wild - he's always hiding and pouncing on poor CJ. My Mom and her friend found him abaondoned in Indianapolis and brought him home for me. Trent wasn't too happpy, but he couldn't tell us no, so we got to keep him. He's not a big cat lover. It probably helped that it was my Mom who gave him to us!

Mission Mexico '05 - The highlight of my summer!

What an awesome summer I've had - I was able to take some time off work and spend a lot of time with my family up at our "shack" at Silver Lake in Michigan, and I had some really great "God" moments there (more on that at a later date).

I also had the incredible opportunity/assignment to take a team of 49 people on a missions journey to Monterrey, Mexico and work with Back 2 Back Ministries in serving abandoned children. The team was a combo of students and leaders from Lifeline, the high school youth ministry of Granger Community Church. http://www.gccwired.com . It was a huge task, but one that I feel God has totally been preparing me for all of my life. The trip was a HUGE success and I know that my team definitely made an impact on eternity because of their hard work, sacrfice and love.

Here I am in the picture with one of the little girls from Casa Hogar Manantial de Amor. Yes, that is my wonderful artwork all of her beautiful little face - what an honor and a joy to be able to love on these kids for a whole week. I will talk more about our trip in future "Missions Monday" posts. If you'd like to see more about our trip, go to Corey Mann's site- http://coreymann.blogspot.com/2005_07_01_coreymann_archive.html
